Academics and researchers in science, medicine, engineering, social sciences, and humanities may apply for the Global Talent Visa, especially if they are conducting innovative research, participating in an individual fellowship, or have a research grant that is approved by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI)

Endorsement Requirements for the Global Talent Visa
The Home Office requires Global Talent Visa applicants to obtain an endorsement from one of the following six recognised endorsing bodies:
- The Royal Society: It endorses applicants in science and medicine, including researchers, professors, and scientists.
- The Royal Academy of Engineering: This body endorses engineering applicants such as mechanical and civil engineers.
- The British Academy: The British Academy endorses exceptional talents in the humanities, such as historians, economists, and sociologists.

Documents Required for the Global Talent Visa
The general documents required for the UK Global Talent Visa application include:
- A valid passport or travel document
- Tuberculosis test results (if applicable).
- Written permission from your government or relevant agency if you’ve received an award or a scholarship to study in the UK within the past year.
Field-specific documents that may be required for a Global Talent Visa application include:

How to Apply for the Global Talent Visa
Before applying for the Global Talent Visa, you must have won an eligible award or successfully applied for an endorsement as a leader or potential leader in your field. If you are applying based on an endorsement, you must do so within 3 months of receiving your endorsement letter.
You can apply for the visa online through the UK government website or at a Visa Application Center (VAC) in your country of residence. During your application, you must submit or upload your supporting documents and pay the visa application fees and health surcharge.
After applying, you must attend a biometric appointment at the VAC or prove your identity online or through the UK Immigration: ID Check application.
Fees and Processing Times
The Global Talent Visa costs £716 for all applicants. If you have an endorsement, you’ll have to pay the fees in two parts: £524 for the endorsement and £192 for the visa. If you have an eligible award, you must make a single payment.
The Global Talent Visa’s processing time is three weeks. However, you can expedite the processing time using the priority or super priority service for an additional fee.
The UK Global Talent Visa Success Rate and Benefits
The latest data released by the Home Office showed that grants for the Global Talent Visa were 4,000 in the year ending June 2023, an increase of 76% compared with the previous year.
The Home Office commissioned Ipsos research to evaluate the effectiveness of the Global Talent Visa program. The second wave of the research comprised 4,025 successful visa holders who participated in 10 case study interviews and 25 in-depth interviews. This research showed that;
